Consolidated Gulf Co. (CGC), the leading technology solutions provider and Nokia partner for Qatar, has joined hands with Qatar Independent Technical School (
) and Edutech Middle East and to sponsor the 3rd Qatar National Robotics Olympiad (NRO) to be held in Doha coming Sunday. The event brings together a pool of students from across to a common podium to explore and showcase their scientific creativity. The NRO is a unique competition formatted for mid-school and high-school students to explore the world of robot technology. It aims at helping the budding national talents improve their creative thinking and problem-solving skills, besides fostering team spirit and encouraging them towards scientific innovation and research.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Bahlool, General Manager, QITS, the country’s only vocational high school, thanked CGC for extending its hands for the cause of young talents. Explaining the format of the Robotics Olympiad, he said, at the competition, the teams of young students are given to solve a few basic problems within a fixed time using a set of standard equipment and parts following certain common rules. Based on the contestants’ innovative, creative and technological abilities, a panel of judges selects the winning team that will represent to compete for the international robotics championship at the World Robot Olympiad to be held in.
Harish Nair, Business Development Head, Edutech, a global leader of learning training solutions, expressed happiness to have support from the leading technology company. He said, “I am sure this event will provide our young students an opportunity to interact and engage in more creativity which helps them improve their scientific thinking and problem-solving skills.”
